Short CV

Klementina Pušnik Črešnar, Assistant Professor, is a researcher at the University of Maribor, affiliated with both the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Her research focuses on the synthesis of nanomaterials and polymer composites, the adsorption of active substances, interaction phenomena, and the characterisation of nanomaterial composites, particularly in relation to their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. In recent years, her research interests have expanded to include the application of nanomaterials in polymer composites, covering aspects such as synthesis, crystallisation, interfacial phenomena, segment dynamics, degradation mechanisms, and surface properties of thermoplastic nanocomposites. Additionally, she explores textile and cellulose-based chemistry, as well as materials engineering, with a specific focus on thermoplastic composites prepared through (reactive) extrusion.

She has extensive knowledge and experience in the structural and surface properties of cellulose-based thermoplastic composites, as reflected in her recent publications. Currently, she is supervising four master’s students and one PhD student within the European Horizon project FoodTranet.

Klementina has led both national and European research projects, including the NIAGARA project (H2020), and has served as a Task Leader in the IPPT_TWINN (HORIZON-SCA) project, which focuses on the recycling of polymer composites using Covalent Adaptable Networks (CANs).
